Different Types of Pins

Custom pins come in a variety of different styles. They range from looking regal and elegant, to old fashioned, to modern. They are a creative and fun way to showcase your brand.

We get it though, not everyone is an expert on pin creation and aren’t sure which type to choose. So, let’s take a look at the most common types of custom pins

Soft Enamel Pins

Soft enamel pins are the most common type of custom pins. This is because they contain vibrant colors and they’re incredibly durable. These high-quality pins are timeless and can showcase all kinds of different logos and designs.

To create this high quality pin, they’re die-struck. This means that they are partially filled with enamel and then the color is added mechanically. This creates a textured surface where you can feel the raised and recessed parts of the design.

Hard Enamel Pins

Hard enamel pins are similar to soft enamel because they’re also die-struck and filled with enamel. However, hard enamel pins are fully filled with enamel which makes them smooth to the touch. The downside to this is that you can’t get the same intricate design that you can with soft enamel. Typically these pins can be found at giveaways, political events, and sporting events.

3D Die Cast Pins

Custom 3D pins are the ideal choice if you want to showcase an intricate design. These pins are made using rubber mold that metal is then poured into. Doing this makes different surface levels and angles to create the cool three-dimensional look and feel. To top off your design, you can also choose different finishes and metals for the pin. Finishes range from antique, to matte, to polished, and more. Metals you can choose from are bronze, nickel, copper, and gold.

Offset Printed Epoxy Pins

Offset epoxy pins are a great choice for your design if you have a lot of different color gradients in the logo, or you don’t want thin metal lines separating colors and text. These pins are made by printing the desired design and then placing an epoxy glaze over it. Doing this offers full-color reproduction of your design and nice, crisp details. This type of pin is also incredibly durable and is great if you’re looking for a more exact replication of your logo or chosen design.

Die Struck Pins

Die struck pins have a simple and elegant design with a jewelry-quality appearance. There is no enamel color added to these pins, but they have a raised and recessed design that is similar to a coin. These pins look similar to the 3D die cast pins, but die struck pins are different because they are not created using a 3D mold. Although there is no color added, you can still choose the type of metal that you want your pin to be made with. The polished raised surface areas and the recessed sandblasted areas also help accentuate the look and feel of the pin.

ins are a great product to use in your marketing strategy. With a variety of different looks and feels, you have the option to choose the best type of pin for your brand, business, or event. Giving them out to customers and clients helps to keep your brand in the forefront of their mind.
